Highest in antioxidants which help rid free radicals. 

Blackberries are best when they fall of the stem when picked.

POMEGRANATE

Excellent anti-inflammatory.

Ripe when heavy with leathery look.

 

STRAWBERRIES

Known to boost immunity.

Ripe when slightly soft.

ORANGES

High in Vitamin C which helps prevent several diseases.

Tasting seems to be the best indicator for ripeness.

KIWIS

Has as much Vitamin C as a Orange.

Ripe when yields to gentle pressure.

RASPBERRIES

Contain antioxidants that help fight cancer.

No longer ripen after picked.

TANGERINES

Also known as Mandarin Oranges.

Should be eaten within a week of being picked.

PAPAYA

Helps ease menstrual pain.

Ripe when mostly yellow.

APRICOTS

Helps prevent age related eye problems.

Ripe when they give just a little and are deep in their color.

MANGOS

Help prevent Cancer.

Ripe when it gives slightly.

PLUMS

High in Potassium which is good for High Blood Pressure.

Ripe when slightly soft.

APPLES

High in dietary fiber.

Do not ripen further after picked.

PEACHES

Peaches help to reduce hair loss.

Ripe when firm but gives to soft squeeze.

GRAPES

Contain resveratrol which can protect against diabetic neuropathy.

Ripe grapes are sweet. Tart grapes need to ripen. 

NECTARINES

Good for strong bones and teeth.

Ripe when soft but not mushy.

PEARS

High in pectin which lowers cholesterol. 

Ripe when firm but gives at the neck.

BLUEBERRIES

Blueberries are known for their heart healthy benefits!

Ripe when dark blue and just soft to the touch.

CHERRIES

Ripe when shiny and plump. The stem should be a fresh green and the cherry deep in the color of its variety.

Sweet Fruits

This is what I call natures sweetener!

BANANAS
High in Potassium which lowers High Blood Pressure.
Ripe when yellow with little brown speckles.

DATES
Dates are loaded with phytonutrients and really sweet to boot!
Ripens by dehydration, freeze ripening, and air drying.

Lettuce

There is nothing that has more minerals than tender leafy greens. Second place is? You guessed it! Fruit!

BUTTERHEAD

Helps promote healthy bones and teeth.

SPINACH

Spinach is considered a Superfood.

GREEN LEAF

Loaded with vitamins and minerals

SPRING GREENS

Helps with weight loss because it is low in calories but makes you feel full.

RED LEAF

Low calories while providing Vitamins A and K.

ROMAINE

This lettuce is a perfect food. It is a staple in the Super Simple Smoothies because it is the most cost effective nutritional punch for the buck!

CELERY

Celery is natures sports drink. Perfect combination of electrolytes but celery has a distinct flavor that can sometimes be hard to hide.

Melons
